Contradictions 2/2025
A Journal for Critical Thought
Contrary to long-standing views of Marxist orthodoxy as intellectually rigid and sterile, new issue of Contradictions highlights the plurality of historical meanings and practices associated with “orthodoxy.” Approaching it as a contested intellectual formation shaped by theoretical debates and power struggles within epistemic communities, the issue examines orthodoxy as an intellectual tradition, revisits key categories such as the lumpenproletariat and the material–ideal relation, and includes regional studies (Yugoslavia, Poland), an interview with Jairus Banaji, and translations of primary texts.
