Boleslav II. Der tschechische Staat um das Jahr 1000
An international symposium on the topic “The Czech State in the Year 1000” was held in Prague on February 9 and 10, 1999.
The presentations by the individual speakers focused not only on the figure of Prince Boleslav II, but also on the city of Prague (as the seat of the Přemyslid dynasty), the economic situation of the Czech principality, sacred architecture, Boleslav’s tomb at Prague Castle, the settlement of the Czech territory, coins and currency of the time, the walls and fortifications of hillforts and towns, important settlements (Brno, Olomouc, Žatec), as well as relations with neighboring Poland. The presentations were delivered by prominent scholars from Bohemia, Moravia, Slovakia, Poland, and Germany.
